A significant proportion of the Estate is available for free public access. There are approximately 1800 acres (728 ha) of woodland, which include Pamber Forest, Benyon’s Inclosure, and Ufton Woods. In addition we have free public access on woodlands close to Theale and water meadows at Englefield are available for educational access. There are also approximately 51km of public footpaths on the Estate which are marked on Ordnance Survey maps.

Englefield Estate takes seriously the debate on Access and has been forthright in making public access a priority. The Estate's attitude is that properly managed voluntary access schemes benefit everyone. These schemes provide more access to the countryside for those who want it and protect the livelihood of those who live and work there. Properly managed access also ensures that valuable and sensitive wildlife habitats are protected. The vast majority of users of the countryside are highly responsible and provide Estate staff with eyes and ears to report acts of vandalism, fires, litter etc. In fostering this sense of partnership the Estate is proving that this form of access provision is the way forward.
