The Estate includes Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) (see Pamber Forest). Sites of Special Landscape Interest, Wildlife Heritage Sites, Conservation Areas, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and areas of Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland. This requires an understanding of the Government bodies which regulate many of these designations and a flexible and sympathetic management policy across the whole Estate.
