With
the help of local contractors the Estates
maintenance team, maintain and renovate a
wide variety of heritage properties on the
Estate.

An
example of work recently carried out is the
renovation of a 14th century near Silchester.
This involved rebuilding a wall using oak
timbers from the Estate, re-thatching and
making good all the old lathe and plaster.
In
addition to the 300 dwellings on the Estate,
many agricultural buildings have to be maintained.
Some Victorian farm buildings, though state
of the art in their time, have no modern agricultural
use. While some can be converted for offices
or light industrial use, many are maintained
by the Estate for purely their aesthetic value.
