The Englefield Estate offers a wide variety of opportunities for TV, film and photography.

At the heart of the Estate is Englefield House, an imposing mansion, with a range of richly furnished state rooms. Sitting in nine acres of formal gardens with woodlands and a walled kitchen garden, it is enclosed by a deer park, offering far-reaching views down to our lake and across the Berkshire countryside.

The House and grounds have featured in numerous films and TV programmes including X:Men First Class, The King’s Speech, The Crown and Agatha Christie’s Poirot. Recent photography clients include Barbour, Chivas Regal, Burtons Menswear and Condici.

Our Estate itself has a huge variety of buildings, landscapes and backdrops that lend themselves to film and photographic shoots. From dry valleys and pasture land to extensive woodlands and chalk pits. We also have a range of agricultural buildings, our own Home Farms, a 12th century church as well as private roads and drives.

Englefield has been welcoming film crews for many years and we have a dedicated in-house team who ensure that each shoot runs smoothly no matter how large or small. We are also able to offer:

  • A convenient location close to the M4 and less than 50 miles from London
  • Good access for lorries and crew vehicles
  • Ample parking and hard standing for unit vehicles
  • Our House Caretaker to assist with any logistical issues
  • Access to additional rooms which can be used for crew members or as green rooms
  • Wi-Fi throughout the House

To discuss your filming or photography requirements please contact our House and Events Manager Peter Carson on 0118 930 2221 or email peter.carson@englefield.co.uk

The Gardens

Originally created over 400 years ago, our beautiful gardens are open to the public every Monday throughout the year.

Our History

The story of Englefield goes back to 871AD when a battle was fought on the hill above the village, marking an important victory by King Alfred over the Danes. The battlefield was named by the Saxons as ‘Anglefield’ which became Englefield over time.
