The Englefield Estate
The grounds of Englefield House have again hosted a hugely successful series of Summer Concerts, featuring some of the biggest names in music.
Working with outdoor music specialists Heritage Live, the four nights of concerts from Thursday July 17th to Sunday July 20th, featured a wide range of performers and attracted thousands of music fans.
From indie band, The Wombats, who headlined on Thursday night, to pop legends The Beach Boys, who topped the bill for the closing session on Sunday, Englefield proved once again to be the perfect backdrop for a summer celebration of entertainment.
On Saturday night The Jacksons delighted the crowd with a performance of their many hits – and were briefly joined on stage by Janet Jackson and her son Eissa, seven, as she supported her brothers and waved to the audience.
Singing superstar Lulu and actor and singer David Essex also wowed the crowds on Sunday afternoon before The Beach Boys took to the stage to wrap up four great days with a stand-out set of their pop classics that make up the soundtrack to many people’s lives.
Peter Carson, Englefield Estate’s Events Manager, said Heritage Live had once again exceeded expectations with a great line up across four days of mostly warm and sunny weather.
“As always we’re grateful for the support of our Estate staff and our neighbours in staging Heritage Live’s Summer Concerts,” he said. “It is lovely to be able to welcome music fans to Englefield to enjoy such a great line up against the backdrop of the house and grounds.
“The concerts are part of a range of activities and events that we host on the Englefield Estate throughout the year that we believe provide benefits for the local economy and the wider area.”
The concerts opened on Thursday afternoon with a set from singer songwriter Alfie Templeman, followed by Hard Fi and The Doves, before headliners The Wombats took to the stage.
On Saturday it was the turn of the DJs to entertain with Fish56Octagon opening the show before sets from Judge Jules, David Morales and Paul Oakenfold. Friday night concluded with Ministry of Sound Classical, featuring a 30-piece orchestra performing reimagined versions of classic dance tracks.
Saturday night brought a soulful mood with performances from Boney M and Sister Sledge leading up to headliners The Jacksons.
Sunday’s event got underway with renowned tribute act Buddy Holly and the Cricketers who brought their touring show celebrating the music of tragic rock and roll pioneer and 50s music legend Buddy – who died in a plane crash - to Englefield.
David Essex and Lulu maintained the mood with two great sets reflecting their decades of music making before The Beach Boys took to the stage to bring the four days to a rousing finale.
